Inspired by Reggio Emilia method, environment plays a vital role in our approach. Our environment is carefully designed so that children can best create meaning and make sense of their world through environments which support "complex, varied, sustained, and changing relationships between people, the world of experience, ideas and the many ways of expressing ideas." Every space is purposefully allocated, carefully and artistically decorated to encourage children of creativity and to analyse and create something on their own. Our application of real-life objects inspires our children to understand the purpose of things around their world.
Outdoor play is a crucial component of child development. Our outdoor area is designed to create an invitation to explore natural environment and outdoor activities where both open-ended and closed-ended are available.
The garden is ready for children to grow, learn and explore life science in a child-friendly setting. There is a soil bed filled with natural fertilizer fenced by wooden frames. The garden is also decorated beautifully with flowers, vine yard, chimes, outdoor music area, benches and natural stools. The garden is sheltered to keep away from rain and receive only appropriate amount of sunlight.
Our matted playground has custom-made play area with slides attached to the curved bridge, climbers, tunnel, walking beam and more. The playground is enchanted with colourful wooden steps, coloured tyres and standalone walking beam. The playground is designed in a way that children are given spaces to engage in numerous physical activities with endless possibilities of play. There are play houses, horses and ride-on vehicles that children can enjoy.
Water play is a very beneficial activity for pre-schooler. Children learn maths, language, sensorial, social awareness, science and environment through water play. Our play station is composed of many different real life objects for children to experiment.
Early childhood is the period where all the senses are developing. Children explore their senses through their cognitive, physical and social skills. In our sensory play station, natural objects and real life loose parts which are child-safe are incorporated together so that children can sense different textures, smells, colour and sounds. The sensorial play station is often child favourite due to its appeal and possibility to transform it into a many stories or miniature landscape.
Sand play is also sensorial play. Our sand area is large and has enough materials, tools, toys and equipment. It serves as an invitation for children to discover, an area to create and reflect what they learned in a wonderful way.
Our indoor learning space is designed based on research proven early childhood practices, theories, and our passion and reflection of early childhood education. Our indoor spaces are combined with natural elements to enable the children to make sense and understand the world they live in. Incorporated with developmentally appropriate practices, the classrooms themselves are created to provide a very stimulating and enriching environment. Every child in our school will gain a unique learning experience that is fulfilling and academically rewarding.
Our learning centres are enriched with developmentally appropriate activities, toys and learning materials. Our school have dramatic centre, library, manipulative and maths centre, art and craft centre, block centre, cooking corner and science centre. Learning centres are catered for every child need, growth, personalities and learning styles. (For example, we use left handed scissors for our left-handers!) Our learning centres are stocked with sufficient supplies of toys to encourage every child to participate in play. Our toys are highest quality, child-safe, educational and developmentally appropriate. Learning centres are decorated for the present theme of the school.
We believe that very young children do benefits from natural aesthetic and beauty. Special focus is paid on the organization and aesthetic aspects in our classrooms. We are using only custom-made wooden furniture especially designed for children’s comfort, safety and to have a better learning experience. Classrooms are carpeted and decorated in neutral colour to keep the children calm and focused. The classrooms are supplied with natural light from the big windows. There are shelves for children to store their personal belongings. The classrooms are equipped with magnetic boards, projectors, cassette players & headphones to provide children enriching experience for learning.
Information technology has been undeniably a substantial part of our young children life lately. While we cannot deny them of their interest with IT, we can help them keep it balance so as not to miss out their chance of learning other important aspects in life. Every class is equipped with IT corner that includes the computer and children can practise their phonics skills and other educational computer games that are allowed occasionally during their play time. The session is kept at 20 minutes per session and two sessions at maximum for every week per child. Projectors are placed in every classroom for phonics sessions and some educational videos.
