Learning is fun

Pre-Nursery Age 2 to 3

This is a 2 hours program. Children who are in 2 to 3 years of age group are accepted in this level. In this stage, the children are exploring their multi-sensory, newly acquired verbal skills and some basic life skills. Our lessons are focused on helping children to be confident with various parts of their developments. As the social skills and communication is the most important skill in this stage, our lessons are filled with creative activities such as art, music , dance, rhymes, sand play, water play and more. Teachers read story books to improve their interaction that help them develop their verbal skills. We encourage their independence and provide opportunity to help themselves while the teachers assist if necessary. Children first year of school experience has to be fun-filled and stimulating their senses. Our lessons allow children to have multi-sensorial experiences and are play-based. The teachers take extra effort to make these very young children feel home and secure. At the last semester, we introduce the Jolly phonics.

The children spend their time doing the following activities at school which are:

  • Learning centres (Library, dramatic corner/pretend play, computer corner, art and craft, blocks corner, manipulative corner)

Low Teacher-Child Ratio: 1:7

Nursery Age 3 to 4

Children of ages from 3 to 4 years of age are given placement at nursery level. The children at this age are more confident and eager to explore the world around them. They are more vocal, active and ready for more challenges. The nursery children have developed their attention span thus the lesson duration is slightly extended. The nursery children play hard and their imagination is active. Lots of interaction and discussions are the evidence of their inquiring minds in nursery class. Teachers being the facilitators, our teaching methods are usually letting children inquire the subject, brainstorming the alternatives, discussing the pros and cons and arriving at the solution. Children have opportunities for various play, arts and music. The Jolly phonics, maths and science are taught at this stage in addition to our integrated teaching. The show and tell session is introduced at the end of each session for reflection, gaining confidence and showman ship ability.

A typical school day includes activities listed below. Some activities such as field trip may only happen twice a term. Outdoor play activities may be only sometimes for a week.

Low Teacher-Child Ratio: 1:8

Pre-Kindergarten Age 4 to 5

This class is intended for children who are 4 to 5 years of age. Children at this stage are capable of more learning activities in the class. The children move on from concrete learning to more abstract level. Children are ready for more complex mathematics, critical thinking and problem solving. We introduce reading and writing at this stage. Children in pre-k level is seen as emergent readers, therefore, GINN reading is introduced with accompanying workbooks for children to practice writing skills. Children will be able to write a simple sentence at the last term. At the end of the year, children of pre-kindergarten will be joining the graduation ceremony. All children at nursery and pre-kindergarten are encourage to participate the performances at graduation ceremony.

Low Teacher-Child Ratio: 1:9

Kindergarten Age 5 to 6

Whilst children still enjoy the outdoor activities, occasional sensory play and other play, the primary focus is given on academic skills. The children will be engaged in science experiments, projects to develop their critical thinking and understand complex science concepts. The strong emphasis will be also given to learning English as we prepare our children to attend the primary school. Kindergarten children will continue their structured reading program.

At the end of kindergarten year, children will be able to write simple essays with few grammatical errors, speak fluently in both English and Myanmar. In kindergarten level, children are prepared for school readiness so that they will have success in both academic and social life. We prepare our children to be responsible citizen, knowledgeable, mature and critical thinker children who will be able to adapt in the world they live and change it to a better place.
